The Moon
& The Edge

A katana is not merely a weapon. It is geometry made steel — a curve that mirrors the crescent moon, an edge ground to atomic precision. We believe these extraordinary objects are silent sculptures, art pieces that command presence in any room they inhabit.

MOON & EDGE is not a showroom with inventory. We are your personal concierge — listening carefully to your taste, your vision, and the space you wish to transform. Then we search across Japan for the one authentic vintage katana that is destined to be yours.

Every katana we present is a genuine historical masterpiece — not a modern reproduction, but a true Japanese sword that has survived centuries, carrying the soul of the smith who forged it and the warriors who once bore it.

Your Journey
to the Perfect Katana

A concierge experience, not a catalogue. Every step is guided by your personal vision.

01

Consultation

We begin with a private conversation — exploring your aesthetic preferences, the space you envision, and the story you wish your katana to tell. There is no catalogue to browse.  Only a dialogue shaped entirely around you.

02

Sourcing

Our team searches across Japan — from private collections to specialist dealers — for authentic vintage katana that match your exact criteria. Each candidate is verified for authenticity and provenance.

03

Presentation

We present a curated selection with complete documentation — historical background, condition reports, and high-resolution imagery. You choose the piece that resonates with you.

04

Delivery

Through our proprietary logistics network built specifically for the Middle East, your katana is shipped from Japan and delivered safely to your door — fully insured and guaranteed.

Centuries of Mastery

I

Tamahagane

The journey begins with tamahagane — jewel steel — smelted from iron sand in a traditional Japanese clay furnace — known as a tatara — over three 3 days and nights.

II

Forging

The steel is folded over 10 times, creating over 1,000 layers. Each fold refines the grain, removing impurities and building strength.

III

Quenching

The blade is coated in clay — thin at the edge, thick at the spine — then plunged into water. This differential hardening creates the hamon, the blade's unique temper line.

IV

Polishing

A master polisher spends weeks with increasingly fine stones, revealing the hada (grain pattern) and hamon. The blade becomes a mirror of its own history.
